About Leanne Hunt

I’m Leanne Hunt, author and counsellor, and my particular interest is in helping leaders like you do everything you can to support those in your midst who are struggling with sight loss.

After being declared legally blind at 17 and walking a long road to independence and empowerment, I’m passionate about personal development. Gone are the days when people with low vision had to weave baskets and answer telephones. The sky’s the limit now; it’s just a matter of knowing what you want and finding the right support to reach your goals.

My blog has lots of interesting articles on caring for someone with a disability. In particular, you’ll want to check out the extracts from my book, What Every Blind Person Needs YOU To Know, starting here. Interspersed with these are lighter articles, such as the one about growing with screen-reading software, and some deeper reflections, such as the one that describes what happens when your blind companion decides to change. Or you can just scroll through the posts as they appear, since there is much to be gleaned from all of them, especially if you are new to thinking about what life as a visually-impaired person must be like.

Finally, if you don’t want to leave a comment on a post and would rather reach me directly, contact me by email at leanne@blindyetfree.com. I answer all my email personally, and would love to offer any suggestions I can.
